You may have noticed that we recently had a little makeover. We upgraded to a better and more intuitive interface that will hopefully make your experience on Styleforum even better and more satisfying.

Here is a list of FAQs: please read them before contacting an admin with any questions you might have regarding the update.

If you do have questions that are not addressed below, please send us an email at [email protected] and we’ll do our best to reply in a timely manner (but please excuse any delays – we are working hard to make this transition as smooth as possible!)

Please note that we’ve been working through some minor technical issues (notably email notifications and native notifications) so please keep that in mind and bear with us as we fix these.

FIRST OF ALL, WHY DID THIS CHANGE HAPPEN? THE FORUM WAS WORKING JUST FINE.

The version of Xenforo we were using is no longer being supported, so we had to upgrade to the newest version.
We also feel that there are some considerable improvements in this newer version, and hope that you’ll find the new system more intuitive and enjoyable to use.

IS THE LOGIN INFO THE SAME AS BEFORE?

Yes, you can login using your existent email and password.

WHAT ARE THE REACTIONS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?

We’re pretty excited about the reactions, as they are a more expansive way to express how you feel about a post; you can now choose “wow”, “love”, “haha”, “angry”, and “sad” in addition to the classic “like” button.
Please note that in order to use the reactions you must have an account and be logged in.

HOW IS THE POINT SYSTEM GOING TO WORK?

Don’t worry, the point system is not going away: every reaction will award you +1 point, with the exception of the “love” reaction (+2 points) and the “angry” and “sad” reactions (0 points). You can monitor reactions in your account under “reactions received”.

WHAT’S THE “NEWS FEED?”

The News Feed is your window on the latest actions taken on the forum: here, you’ll find the latest posts, threads, buy&sell classifieds, comments, and media.

WHAT ABOUT MY WATCHED THREADS?

You can access your watched threads on the top right corner of any page, right next to the “search” icon.

HOW DO I SHARE A PAGE?

With the new update, you can share any page or post on Styleforum by clicking on the social icons that appear at the bottom of the page, right below the reply box. The convenient share buttons allow you to send emails, whatsapp texts, reddit updates, and more with just one click.

HOW DO I START A THREAD?

Just like before, you can start a thread by clicking on the “Post Thread” button located on the top of a forum or sub-forum page.
Alternatively, you can click on the “Post Thread” bar located above the first thread of the list: this will expand the bar into a “post thread” box instead of leaving the current page.

HOW DO I UPLOAD AN IMAGE?

It’s never been easier: simply drag and drop your file into the attachment box or select it from the computer. Alternatively, you can select the link button and copy/paste a URL to display the image within the post.

HOW DO I QUOTE SOMEONE IN A POST?

Quotes are not changing: you can quote one or more users by highlighting the text you want to quote and click on the “+quote” button that appears on the screen.

HOW DO I REPORT A POST?

The “report” button is the first one on the left at the bottom of the post box. We’ll thank you for reporting spam, abusive and offensive comments, and comments that violate the guidelines, but please be specific about the reason you’re reporting a post.

ARE THERE OTHER COOL FEATURES I SHOULD BE AWARE OF?

Yes, plenty! For instance, you can now jump to the last page of a thread by clicking on the “Jump to new” button located above the first post of a page.
Next to the same button, you’ll find the “watch thread” option, which you should click in order to receive alerts about the thread.
